UFO High Bay light100W

I want to mod my kid's RC car to accept Li ion battery. I am tired with getting AA batteries all the time. He got another RC car which came with a single small Li ion battery (see pic) which charges with a USB cable. So I was thinking to mod the other car with similar battery. But thing is the project car requires 3 AA batteries. So I that's 4.5 volts and a single Li ion is 3.7 volts average. So how do I go on with it?

As you can see in the pic. The Li ion battery in new car looks like just a battery connected with two wires. But is there any safety circuit involved? Or should I be very safe while charging it?
