My question is that is there any way to re-create the original scanner exactly as it was with the same circuit and same set of light bulbs, whichever type they were, but on a smaller scale that I could later on make on a larger scale and install onto a car?

Hi everyone, I have been looking into re-creating KITT's scanner lights on a small platform like a PCB or small circuit, problem is that all online tutorials I've seen either use arduino or raspberry pi, however in the 80s there was none of these... I want to create it like it must have been done in the 80s, a simple circuit of transistors and resistors and all, not some micro-computer attached to it... secondly the modern techniques use LEDs which don't have that slowly turning off effect that the original scanner had while oscillating, the LEDs just simply turn off or on without any after-effect.
