With their journey time estimated to be over 30 minutes, the Toll NSW Ambulance Rescue Helicopter was launched from Bankstown with a critical care medical team on board.

Despite the patient being taken to hospital, the water police launch continued on to Refuge Bay, arriving just before 4.15pm. Officers attached to NSW Police Marine Area Command then conducted inquiries into how the incident had occurred.
