Normally, a Lithium-ion battery will last between five to eight years. However, with Leadsun’s patented, advanced battery technology we guarantee a battery will have at least 80% of its rated capacity at the end of 10 years. In practice, actual battery life can extend well beyond this with typical battery life being around 15 years.

SMART solar LED street lights are robust, reliable mature technology, tried, tested on many thousands of installations over 15 plus years. They are economical when compared with grid-connect streetlights, easier to install, sustainable with zero emissions from their operation, have no energy costs, are maintenance-free, Dark-sky compliant, and have optional wireless monitoring and control.

Just like conventional grid-powered street lights, solar street lights increase safety, security, accessibility and visibility on residential streets at night. However, unlike grid-powered street lights, solar street lighting is powered by the sun. During the day, a solar panel charges a Lithium-ion battery which powers a bright LED light at night.

As a guide, we can fully supply and install three compliant grid-free solar lighting systems in a residential street for about $15,000. Costs will vary however depending on application, installation size, access (including traffic management if required) and design.

In Australia and New Zealand, all street lights including solar street lights must comply with Australian and New Zealand Lighting Standards. We provide a complete, fully engineered solution ensuring compliance with AS/NZS 1158.3.1:2020. All of our systems are designed to ensure at least 3 nights’ lighting will be maintained, even on cloudy days without needing any power from the electricity grid.
