Green Lantern is the name of several superheroes within the DC universe. The first of these, named Alan Scott, was created by Bill Finger (writing) and Martin Nodell (art) for All-American Comics #16 in July 1940. One of the best-known Green Lanterns is Hal Jordan, a co-creation by Gil Kane and John Broome for Showcase #22 in October 1959.
