Moving upwards, Biosafety Level 2 signs are suitable for laboratories that have handwashing sinks, eye washing stations in case of accidents, and doors that automatically close and lock.

Angular Visibility: While our flat, one-dimensional signs can be read-only from the front, our Projecting V-signs have a 74° bend for superior visibility. These signs make it really easy to spot “Biohazards” from any angle. V-shaped signs have two flanges and two pre-drilled mounting holes on each flange. Just use some screws to fix the sign on a surface using the drilled holes. If not screws, you can use adhesive tape included in the order.

The symbol was designed back in 1966 by Charles Baldwin of Dow Chemicals, who wanted the symbol to be “memorable but meaningless” so that they would educate people as to what it means. According to OSHA Standard 1910.1030(g)(1)(ii)(A), the employer shall post Biohazard Signs at the entrance to research laboratories and production facilities or work areas engaged in the culture, production, concentration, experimentation, and manipulation of microbes.

Higher Biosafety Levels (Level 3 and Level 4) include specialized controls for laboratories with a very high and life-threatening risk of infections.

OSHA §1910.145(e)(4) also explains how Biohazard warnings should be posted “to identify equipment, containers, rooms, materials, experimental animals, or combinations thereof, which contain, or are contaminated with Biohazardous agents.
