The impact on the aesthetics of the sign is minimal. We take great care to ensure that our signs are as aesthetically perfect as possible, even when riveted. We use specialist blind rivets, manufactured by the market leader. In essence, this means you cannot see the rivets that are holding the channelling in place on the front of the sign, thus giving you the best possible finish and a sign that is very easy to read.

Thank you for your very prompt delivery of my order. It looks like an excellent product. Thank you very much. 5 star rating

The highways authority is the organisation that polices/regulates road signage. Whilst our signs’ designs and sizes comply to all current legislation, you will need to apply to your local highways authority for permission BEFORE you erect any permanent or temporary road sign in England & Wales.

R2 (Prismatic) reflectivity is the honeycomb style reflective that you would see on main roads throughout Europe. It has an expected lifespan of 10 years and is legally usable on roads, highways and motorways in the UK.

SSP’s market leading reflective road signs are made to exacting standards, giving our customers the best possible sign for their budgets. This no through road road sign is made from extremely hard wearing, 3mm thick Aluminium Composite (Dibond). On the rear there are two strips of channelling that enables it to be affixed to a sign post using one of the two types of anti-rotational clips in the links below (50mm or 76mm).ReflectivityThis RA1 sign utilises retro-reflective materials that have the ability to reflect a significant proportion of emitted light back towards the light’s point of origin. This means that this sign is particularly visible at night when illuminated by the light from a vehicle’s headlamps.Conforming to the new European road sign standard BS EN 12899-1:2007 (that replaced the UK’s now obsolete British Standard BS873), the reflectivity of this sign is classified as class RA1 (the old class 2). This is an ‘engineering grade’ sign with lower reflectivity than a R2 sign. However, it is still suitable for all unlit roads (except Dual carriageways) and temporary sites. It is worth noting that if you are looking for a sign that is to be installed on a motorway, dual-carriageway and any stretch of road that is lit, please use the corresponding Class R2 sign on this website. Legalities: The design on this fixed road sign conforms to Chapter 8 specifications and the TSRGD guidelines. All fixed road signs are CE marked in accordance with BS EN 12899-1:2007

1. What made you choose to buy these products from SSP? First provider on internet search with what I wanted,2. What did you think of the service? Excellent – very professional and friendly.

Absolutely. This is not an uncommon request. The alternative to aluminium is 2mm thick Dibond Traffic signs. These are made for this purpose specifically. Essentially, this is a 2mm plastic plate, sandwiched in two 0.5mm aluminium extra thin sheets. RA1 or R2 reflective material, showing your message or symbol, is then affixed. This give you an equally good finish whilst being virtually worthless to thieves. These Dibond signs are available on request and usually cost the same as the 3mm thick aluminium ones.

In essence, Class 2 became RA1 and Class 1 became R2. As you can see from previous question, R2 is now the superior product.
